Talks with ambassadors of the #InvisibleNoMore campaign

On 22 April, the WUCWO World Women´s Observatory organised three virtual meetings, one in each of our official languages – Spanish, French and English - with some of the ambassadors of the #InvisibleNoMore campaign. These talks gave us the opportunity to listen to their testimonies, learn about their motivations and gain a better understanding of their daily work on behalf of invisible women in different parts of the world.

Voices from Tanzania and Thailand

In the English meeting, we were joined by Sylvia from Tanzania and Areeya from Thailand. Both shared how their commitment to invisible women not only transforms the lives of others, but also their own.

"One voice becomes many voices when joined with others", said Areeya.

Sylvia explained how her work with children also led her to accompany women in very difficult situations:

"I am an ambassador because I work with children, and that has led me to work with families. Many women are abandoned after giving birth to children with disabilities and are left alone to care for them. Social prejudice towards disability is very high."

They also shared how this role has profoundly transformed their lives: they have become more courageous and resilient, developed a deeper empathy for the suffering of others and discovered that they are not alone in this mission.

Unity, network and transformation from Francophone Africa.

In French, we listened to Sister Véronique and Esther, who highlighted the importance of networking and mutual support:

"Working together strengthens and enriches us. Unity and working together is what we learn from the World Women's Observatory".

One of them shared with great clarity her motivation:

"I am a woman, and as such, I stand with vulnerable women. Often, women do not speak up, and to encourage them to express themselves, I accompany and support them. As an ambassador, I strive to improve the lives of those who have been marginalised by society. This can only be achieved through working together, in a network, as women and men."

Accompanying processes with dignity in Latin America

In the meeting in Spanish, Marcell and Mauro spoke from their experience as ambassadors accompanying migrants - men and women - in situations of vulnerability in Latin America.

"What does it mean to be an invisible woman? For us, no woman is invisible; every woman has a say. We create safe spaces where they can tell their stories, express their opinions, feel dignified and safe".

Both stressed the need to respect the personal processes of each woman during accompaniment:

"We have started an activity of talking circles where we listen to their stories and experiences. It is important to respect women's processes and times when we accompany them".

These meetings have been a unique opportunity to make visible the stories, voices and actions of those who work day by day with women. Because united, women and men can make sure no one remains #InvisibleNoMore.
