Last March, the Accompaniment Model (MdA) was completed as part of the project "Access to justice for migrant women in Mexico," thanks to the partnership between the World Women's Observatory (WWO) of the World Union of Catholic Women's Organisations (WUCWO) and Corporativa de Fundaciones. The aim of this model was to accompany CSOs in a training process that would enable them to build institutional and technical capacities that contribute to the efficiency and effectiveness of their interventions.
For six months, sixteen organisations from Mexico and Guatemala participated for approximately ten hours per month, attending working sessions where the following topics were reviewed and evaluated:
Governance: Organisational structure, Board of Directors. Succession plans.
Financial administration and management: Administrative policies and procedures, financial systems and information, budgeting, and internal controls.
Human resources: Job descriptions, recruitment policy, performance evaluation.
Donation management: case statement. Diversification and financing, fundraising strategies. Public relations.
Strategic planning: Mission and vision, Specific objectives, Activity planning, Goal monitoring and evaluation.
Intervention model design: Use of evidence in models. Theory of change. Development of indicators. Monitoring plan.
On 14 March, this support model concluded with an in-person event in Mexico City, where diplomas were awarded and each and every participant was recognised for their efforts in this training workshop. Understanding that mobility contexts are complex, but given the importance and need for ongoing training, they did everything possible to attend all the sessions.
We congratulate each of the organisations that completed the Model and thank them for their commitment to migrant women, so that they can have a better quality of life, free from violence and with greater access to justice.

As a result of this institutional strengthening process and with the support of the Hilton Foundation, in collaboration with the World Women´s Observatory, a call for proposals was issued to member organisations of the network to submit project plans addressing issues related to improving access to justice for migrant women.
Ten projects were received, of which two were selected after a rigorous and professional evaluation process. The first was submitted by the organisation "Espacio Migrante", located in Tijuana, Baja California, in northern Mexico. Their project is entitled Mujer Migrante, Lucha Constante (Migrant Women, Constant Struggle), which aims to work hand in hand with migrant women and girls to fight for their rights, create safe and dignified spaces to build community, provide them with tools and support to fulfill their basic human rights, develop language skills that allow them to exercise those rights, and improve access to and retention in the education system for migrant children and adolescents. This project focuses on the voices of migrant women, mainly girls, adolescents, black women, indigenous women, women of colour, women from the LGBTIQ+ community, and women from communities that do not speak Spanish.
The second project to receive funding was submitted by the organisation Sin Fronteras IAP, based in Mexico City. Entitled Access to justice for migrant and refugee women in Mexico City, it aims to contribute to the social, economic and legal integration of migrant women and women subject to international protection who are in vulnerable situations in Mexico City, promoting the full exercise of their rights and their active participation in society.
Congratulations to the winning projects!
We are confident that this opportunity will have a positive impact on the lives of migrant women in Mexico.
