On November 1st, the Women Faith Leaders Fellowship (WFLF) team, together with Cohort 3, visited the Women Uplift Project (WUP) at Deep Sea Slum. Deep Sea is a small, densely populated informal settlement in Nairobi, marked by limited infrastructure and vibrant community resilience. While the project is based in Deep Sea, the participating women come from various slums including Kangemi, Deep Sea, and Jebera, among others.

WUP is a transformative initiative of the World Women Observatory, dedicated to empowering women in vulnerable contexts through skill-building, accompaniment, and advocacy.

The visit was marked by heartfelt sharing and mutual exchange. The women engaged openly with the WFLF team, reflecting on their experiences, challenges, and hopes. Collaborators such as the Consolata Fathers also graced the occasion, reinforcing the spirit of partnership and solidarity. Indeed, networking is the game and this gathering was a testament to its power.

During the interaction, the women expressed a strong desire to extend their training period, allowing more time to refine and perfect their skills. Their commitment and enthusiasm were palpable.

With the right support especially through grants and startup assistance these women elevate their skills, launch sustainable income generating activities, and transform their lives. For sure, their lifestyle will change, bringing dignity, stability, and renewed hope to their families and the society where they live.
